PULLING FEATURE: Hovind Family

Princeton, Texas

The Hovind Family is a family that loves the sport of pulling, a dad Steve started his three sons, Aidan, Mason and Jacob very young in the sport.

Princeton, Texas, located 40 miles north of Dallas, is home for the Hovind’s, who are very active and competitive with the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pullers Association.

Steve started pulling when his father helped him get into the sport in 1978 in Central Illinois. Steve’s first hook was in 1978 in Abingdon, Illinois.

Steve now hooks the Bad Idea Pro Stock Diesel with Lone Star Garden Tractor Pullers Association (LSGTPA)/Hilliard Tractor Club (Hilliard Winter Championship). He sports a 3 cylinder, 75cu, Turbo charged Yanmar, HX30 Turbo, Bosch “A” Pump under the hood.

Hovind has had a lot of success on the track, with highlights being 2017 1st round Pro Stock 1st Place Hilliard Winter Championship, LSGTPA 2008 “Stock”/2011 “Stock”/2013 “Stock diesel” points champion

Aidan drives the Buck Shot, a Stock Diesel tractor runs a 3 cylinder, 55cu, Naturally Aspirated Kubota.

Aidan has found great success on the track, and claimed the 2015 LSGTPA Points title in the Youth Class. At age 6 Aidan hooked up for the first time at the 2009 Farmersville, Texas Old Time Saturday pull.

Mason hooks the Yes Deere Hot Stock tractor and was also a champion in 2015 with LSGTPA points champion in the Youth Class. His first was in 2013 in Bonham, Texas at the Heritage Days Pull.

Jacob drives Yes Deere, a Youth Stock machine set up with 14HP Kohler engine. Jacob started hooking at age 7, with his first pull coming at the 2016 at Cooper Delta County Fair.
